Pasco County Board of County Commissioners is the legislative and policy-making body of the County Government. The five members of the Board of County Commissioners are elected Countywide from districts. The Board appoints the County Administrator and the County Attorney and confirms the appointment of department heads. The Board establishes policies through the enactment of ordinances and adoption of resolutions.

There is no state income or inheritance tax. Pasco County is currently at the minimum of 7% sales tax. The Florida Intangible Tax is a tax imposed by the state on certain assets owned by Florida residents.

The Homestead exemption is a constitutional guarantee that reduces the assessed value of residential property up to $25,000 for qualified permanent residents of Florida.
